If you have a question about our insurance you can find the answers to the most frequently asked questions here. You can also call 0771-655 655 and we'll help you.

Who does the home insurance cover?

Your home insurance covers you as the policyholder, along with anyone who lives with you and shares your household. They also need to be registered at the address listed in the insurance policy.

Does home insurance cover things I’ve borrowed?

Yes, your home insurance provides protection for items you own, rent, or borrow – both at home and while travelling.

However, the all-risk coverage doesn’t apply to borrowed items. One exception is borrowed computers or tablets from your child’s school, which are included.

Is travel insurance included in the home insurance?

Yes, it includes travel protection for private trips of up to 45 days anywhere in the world.

If you have Stor Hemförsäkring (Home Insurance Premium), you also benefit from added extras like cancellation cover and compensation for delays.

Does home insurance include third party liability?

If you have Stor Hemförsäkring or Hemförsäkring Extra (Home Insurance Premium or Home Insurance Extra), your policy includes third-party liability, also known as all-risk insurance. We call it ‘Misfortune’, and it helps to cover sudden and unexpected damage to or loss of your belongings caused by external incidents.

  • Home Premium: covers up to SEK 100,000.
  • Home Extra: covers up to SEK 50,000.

Can I get alternative accommodation after a fire?

Yes, if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a fire or other types of damage, your insurance covers the cost of replacement accommodation.

Are losses from theft during a party covered?

No, the insurance won’t cover theft if someone you allowed into your home takes your belongings. It only covers theft if someone breaks in or forces entry.

Does the insurance apply if my mobile is stolen from the car?

Unfortunately, mobiles are considered items prone to theft and aren’t covered under any type of home insurance if stolen from a car.

Do I need home insurance when living in a sub-let?

Yes, whether you rent an apartment directly or through a sub-let, you need home insurance. Your policy protects your personal belongings, as well as items you’ve rented or borrowed.

However, it’s the landlord’s responsibility to insure the apartment or house itself—you don’t need to worry about that.

How does my insurance apply if I rent out my home?

If you plan to rent out your home, you’ll still need suitable insurance. This depends on whether you have a tenancy or own the property through a housing association, as well as if you’re leaving furniture or personal items in the home.

  • If it's through a housing association, you’ll need a supplement for your home insurance to reflect that.
  • It’s important to have permission from the landlord or housing association before renting—otherwise, it could be considered illegal.
  • For frequent rentals or larger-scale activities, your rental could be classified as a business, which requires a specialised insurance policy.

If you’re unsure, just reach out, and we’ll help you find the right insurance for your situation.

Does the home insurance cover ID theft?

Home insurance provides support if you experience identity theft. While it doesn’t stop someone from stealing your identity, it helps with:

  • Preventive advice to reduce the risk of ID theft
  • Guidance to minimise the impact if theft occurs
  • Legal assistance to correct or challenge errors caused by the ID theft
